Far Harbour 39 by Container Yachts

Bringing entirely new meaning to the words “container ship,” the Far Harbour 39 is designed, not to carry hundreds of metal boxes across the ocean but to fit neatly inside one standard 40 foot container. This design, by Robert Perry, is the product of Container Yachts, a company formed to build and market the innovative cruiser.

The Far Harbour 39 debuted at Newport last September and has been gaining recognition and awards ever since. Working within the unalterable confines of the shipping container’s dimensions, Perry came up with a very comfortable and capable boat. It will cruise under power using a 40 hp Yanmar at 8.3 knots with a range or 800 NM. LOA is 38′ 11″, beam of 7′ 5″ and draft of 5′ 6″.

The idea behind the project is to make cruising distant ports a reality by simplifying the process of shipping your boat anywhere in the world. You arrive and your boat is waiting. It’s a great idea.

Cruiseaway pricing, in the water and ready to go is $225,000.
